Security chiefs in Ogun State have carried out a high-level joint operational assessment and show of force across the Ogun–Ondo border corridor as part of efforts to strengthen security, sustain the gains of Operation Kosaye, and curb criminal activities in the area.
The operation, which covered the Ogun Waterside axis, including Iwopin, Abigi, and Ibiade, was coordinated by the Ogun State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies and key government stakeholders.
The assessment team comprised the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni; the Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, CP Edward Ajogun (Rtd.); the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brig.-Gen. J.O. Onu; the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Ogun State Command, R.A. Adelakun; the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo; the Commander of the Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun Corps), Brig.-Gen. Alade Adedigba (Rtd.); the State Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo; as well as the executive chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East, and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas.
The security convoy traversed major communities along the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway, covering J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin, Abigi, and terminating at Ajebandele, the boundary community between Ogun and Ondo states.
During the exercise, the joint security team assessed vulnerable locations, reviewed operational needs, evaluated the terrain, and examined factors affecting security operations along the corridor. The operation also provided an opportunity to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, improve intelligence gathering, and engage community stakeholders in crime prevention efforts.
According to the police, the show of force was aimed at reassuring residents, commuters, and other road users of the preparedness of security agencies to safeguard lives and property while maintaining a strong security presence across the border communities.
The exercise also underscored the commitment of the participating agencies to sustained surveillance and coordinated responses to emerging security threats within the Ogun–Ondo border corridor.
Speaking after the operation, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the cooperation among the participating security agencies, government officials, and stakeholders.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining joint security operations, enhancing intelligence sharing, deploying modern policing technology, and strengthening partnerships with local communities to improve public safety across the state.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that effective policing depends on strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public.
