The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed a fire incident at the old terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, disclosed that authorities swiftly responded to the situation and are currently on the ground managing the incident.
According to him, the agency’s emergency response and firefighting teams were immediately deployed to contain the outbreak and prevent further damage to the facility.
“We are aware of the outbreak and are on the scene right now. We will be issuing an official statement shortly. Our firefighting team is actively responding and working to curtail the situation. No loss of life has been recorded. Further updates will be provided,” Agbebire said.
Passengers and other airport users have been advised to remain calm as efforts continue to fully extinguish the fire and assess the extent of damage to the affected terminal.
FAAN assured the public that more details would be released as additional information becomes available. As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire and the extent of damage had yet to be disclosed.
