August 15, 2025 – Isiokpo, Rivers State.
The Vice-Chancellor, staff, and students of Wigwe University join the world in solemn remembrance as we mark the 59th posthumous birthday of our revered founder, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, CFR. Today, we honour a visionary whose fearless dream birthed this citadel of knowledge and innovation.
Dr. Wigwe was not only a leader but a beacon of hope, a transformative force, and a staunch believer in the power of education to uplift generations. His unwavering dedication to excellence, innovation, and societal impact lives on in the very fabric of Wigwe University — a living monument to his legacy.
As we commemorate this day, we reflect on his philosophy that “fearlessness is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.” This principle continues to shape our identity and fuel our mission to raise future-ready leaders, thinkers, and change-makers who will move Nigeria and Africa forward.
The university community pauses to honour Dr. Wigwe’s enduring vision and offers prayers for his soul and those of his dearly departed loved ones. May the light they left behind remain a guiding flame — a legacy of courage, purpose, and transformative education.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi urges all members of the university community and beneficiaries of Dr. Wigwe’s vision to recommit to his ideals.
Let us honour his memory by pursuing knowledge boldly, leading with integrity, and lifting others as he did. Wigwe University will forever stand as a tribute to his greatness,” he said.
We pray for the peaceful repose of Dr. Herbert Wigwe, his beloved wife, son, and all who departed with them. May their souls rest in eternal peace, and may their light continue to inspire us.
Long live the Fearless Vision.
Long live Wigwe University.
