Cavista Technologies and Babcock University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to equip students with practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills, industry exposure and professional experience needed to thrive in the evolving technology sector.
The strategic partnership, signed at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements by providing 300-level and 400-level students with hands-on learning opportunities, mentorship and exposure to real-world applications of AI.
Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Vice President and General Manager of Cavista Technologies, Oye Morakinyo, described the agreement as a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and the private sector.
She said the partnership represented a shared commitment to connecting classroom learning with practical industry experience and creating opportunities for young people to develop skills that would prepare them for the future of work.
According to Morakinyo, students would benefit from direct engagement with Cavista’s engineers and other industry professionals, who would expose them to how emerging technologies are being deployed to address complex challenges across different sectors.
She added that the initiative aligned with the company’s belief that sustainable innovation begins with investing in people and developing the next generation of technology leaders.
Morakinyo explained that the partnership would also support Cavista Technologies’ long-term talent development strategy by creating opportunities to identify, nurture and retain promising young professionals.
She noted that a structured mini-curriculum would be jointly developed by both organisations to complement academic learning with practical industry applications.
Also speaking, President and Vice-Chancellor of Babcock University, Prof. Afolarin Olutunde Ojewole, described the partnership as timely, noting that Cavista Technologies had established an impressive record of innovation and achievement despite being a relatively young company.
He said the collaboration would strengthen the university’s relationship with the technology industry while creating pathways to enrich learning, advance research and better prepare students for employment opportunities in the digital economy.
Ojewole expressed optimism that the partnership would expose students to valuable professional networks, mentorship and industry knowledge capable of shaping their future careers.
The collaboration is also expected to reinforce Babcock University’s commitment to academic excellence by ensuring that students acquire relevant practical competencies alongside their formal education.
Both organisations expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute to the development of skilled technology professionals and support Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
The ceremony ended with the formal signing and exchange of the MoU by representatives of Cavista Technologies and Babcock University, signalling the beginning of a partnership focused on developing future-ready talent.
