In a major move to bolster operational synergy and optimize service delivery, the Acting Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’, Deputy Comptroller Farouk Nadaniya, has embarked on a familiarization tour across strategic Area Commands within the region.
The high-level tour, which took place on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, covered key formations including the Zone ‘C’ Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt I Command, Ibeto Seaport Area 5 Command, Port Harcourt Area II Onne Command, and the Eastern Marine Command.
Speaking during the visits, Acting Comptroller Nadaniya stated that the tour was designed to foster a closer working relationship with Area Controllers and their personnel while building strong operational ties across the zone.
Addressing officers at the various locations, Nadaniya expressed gratitude to Almighty God for the opportunity to serve, while praising the Area Controllers and their men for their warm reception and unwavering dedication to duty.
He emphasized that inter-agency unity and collective responsibility are crucial in combating smuggling, safeguarding national revenue, and enforcing legitimate trade laws.
“To achieve the strategic objectives of the Nigeria Customs Service, we must work as one unit,” Nadaniya noted. He appealed to the commands to extend to him the same maximum support and cooperation accorded to his predecessor, adding that such continuity is vital to consolidating past achievements and elevating operational performance across the zone.
In their responses, the various Area Controllers commended the initiative, describing the visit as a welcome step toward stronger internal collaboration. They assured the FOU Chief of a cordial working relationship grounded in mutual respect, discipline, professionalism, and accountability.
The Controllers further urged Nadaniya to sustain the momentum by aligning his administration’s goals with the transformative strides of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR). Reaffirming their unalloyed support, they offered prayers for wisdom, protection, and success for the Acting Comptroller and his team.
Rounding off the tour, DC Nadaniya disclosed that a strategic session was recently held with the unit’s patrol team leaders. According to him, the meeting was aimed at instilling high levels of discipline, vigilance, and strict accountability among field officers, reflecting the critical role the Federal Operations Unit plays in driving the overall mandate of the Service.
