The Ogun State Police Command has launched a major crackdown on criminal activities across the state, resulting in the arrest of 11 suspects, the recovery of weapons and stolen property, and the impoundment of several vehicles within an 11-day period.
The anti-crime drive, spearheaded by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, targeted major crime hubs across Ogun State between September 16 and September 26, 2026. The operations led to the recovery of three firearms, 25 stolen ATM cards, multiple mobile phones, two suspected stolen vehicles, and various electrical materials.
Police operations kicked off on September 16, when detectives from the Owode Egba Division tracked down and recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village. Two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were taken into custody, while a manhunt remains underway for an fleeing accomplice, identified as Saheed.
Days later, on September 19, officers from the Olorunda Division intercepted a motorcycle along Ayetoro Road carrying suspected stolen electrical infrastructure. Mutiu Gafar (19) and Fatai Obasanmi (37) were apprehended carrying stolen electrical wiring, a change-over box, and a circuit breaker box allegedly burglarized from a local home.
Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams also struck across the state:
- Vehicle Theft: SWAT operatives from Base 7 (Abule-Iroko) intercepted an unregistered tricycle and motorcycle around Dalemo, Ota, on September 21. Three suspects—Olamide Ayandele (30), Tope Samuel (40), and Ayo Peter Ojo (30)—were arrested for alleged ties to a vehicle theft ring operating in the Ijoko axis.
- Cultism & Illegal Firearms: SWAT teams responded to intelligence regarding a cult meeting on September 22, arresting Peter Olanrewaju (34). A follow-up operation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq (36) and the seizure of an armory comprising one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols.
In financial crime enforcement, Igbesa Division officers arrested 45-year-old Ameachine Anthony on September 22 over an alleged ₦2.5 million fraud scheme. Investigators recovered 25 ATM cards and multiple mobile phones. Preliminary reports indicate the scheme involved using utility bills and newly acquired SIM cards through associates to fraudulently create bank accounts and gather ATM cards for illegal transactions. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Eleweran.
In Ijebu-Ode, crime detectives recovered a stolen Opel Zafira vehicle following intelligence tracking, arresting suspect Olatunji Olalekan.
In addition to violent and property crime enforcement, the Sagamu Area Command targeted traffic congestion around the Sagamu Interchange Bridge on September 26. Officers impounded eight vehicles for illegal parking and highway obstruction. The vehicles are scheduled for court processing, with authorities signaling that strict highway enforcement will continue.
Commending the officers involved, CP Bode Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s dedication to proactive enforcement and urged the public to report suspicious activity.
