The Ogun State Police Command has recorded fresh operational successes under its ongoing Operation KOSAYE, arresting 16 suspects for offences ranging from illegal petroleum product dealings and vandalism to burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and defilement.
The Command said the arrests followed intelligence-led operations, prompt responses to distress calls, forensic investigations and sustained tactical patrols carried out across the state.
In a statement issued on July 25, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the operations also led to the recovery of two vehicles, a stolen motorcycle, four drums of suspected Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 13 jerry cans containing suspected diesel, a pumping machine, a generator and several other exhibits.
According to the statement, the latest successes underscore the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to combating crime, protecting critical national infrastructure and safeguarding lives and property in line with the operational objectives of Operation KOSAYE.
The statement noted that operatives of the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit arrested a 51-year-old suspect, Kabiru Afolabi, during a raid on an alleged diesel bunkering operation at Abule-Iroko, Sango, on July 21. Officers recovered four drums of suspected AGO, 13 jerry cans containing suspected diesel, a pumping machine and a generator allegedly used for the illegal operation.
Police said investigations were ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
In another operation, detectives attached to the Ota Division arrested two suspects, Nnabike Uzolo, 26, and Chino Mgbenya, 28, over the alleged vandalism of telecommunications infrastructure at Ten Ten Street, Mine, Ota. The suspects have since been charged to court.
At the Idanyin Division, detectives arrested two suspects, Hammed Olanrewaju and Emmanuel Victor, following a burglary at a commercial establishment. Police said part of the stolen property was recovered while efforts were ongoing to recover the remaining items and arrest other accomplices.
Similarly, detectives from the Ajuwon Division arrested 20-year-old Mathew Mark and recovered a stolen Bajaj Boxer motorcycle reported missing on July 3. The suspect remains in custody pending prosecution.
The Agbado Division also recorded major breakthroughs after forensic tracking of a stolen mobile phone led to the arrest of four suspected burglars identified as Sodiq Raji, Zubby Nzube, Adeyemi Omoyajuowo and Chimezie Iwuanya.
Some stolen property has been recovered, while investigations continue.
In a separate case, detectives at the Agbado Division arrested a 50-year-old suspect, Saliu Akinwande, over the alleged defilement of an 11-year-old girl.
The victim was taken for medical treatment, while the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for further investigation and prosecution.
The Command also foiled a vehicle hijacking along the Benin/Ore Expressway after operatives from the Ijebu Imushin Division responded to reports that armed hoodlums had hijacked a mini truck conveying aluminium doors and window frames. The suspects fled into a nearby forest on sighting the police, abandoning the vehicle, which was recovered and returned to its owner.
In another development, officers attached to the Atan Ijebu Division recovered an abandoned bus following credible information from members of the public. Police said efforts were underway to identify and contact the rightful owner.
The division also arrested five suspects in separate burglary and house-breaking operations carried out between July 13 and July 21. Those arrested include Ayomide Odufuwa, Adura Adebanjo, Samuel Sunday, Bashiru and Muhammed. The operations led to the recovery of stolen clothing, household items, bedding materials and other exhibits.
Commending officers involved in the operations, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KOSAYE through intelligence-led policing, enhanced patrols, forensic investigations and stronger community partnerships.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to the police, assuring that the Command would intensify proactive policing strategies to ensure the safety of lives, property and critical national assets across Ogun State.
