The Ijebu Traditional Council of Obas has unanimously endorsed the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
The monarchs also endorsed his running mate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa Balogun, and declared their support for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s bid for the Ogun East Senatorial seat after the completion of his tenure.
The endorsement was announced during a meeting at the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode on Friday, where Governor Abiodun formally presented the APC governorship ticket to the traditional rulers.
Speaking on behalf of the council, the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo, said the endorsement was based on Senator Adeola’s developmental contributions across Ogun State and the late Awujale’s support for his governorship aspiration.
In his remarks, Governor Abiodun described Adeola as a worthy successor capable of sustaining his administration’s development agenda, while Adeola thanked the monarchs for their confidence and pledged to consolidate on the state’s achievements through inclusive governance and economic growth if elected.
