Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, was arrested on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, shortly after arriving from Enugu aboard a chartered flight.
Airport sources said he was taken into custody immediately after landing and is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning and further investigation.
According to the sources, the arrest is connected to an ongoing investigation into allegations that the former minister presented fake academic credentials during his time in public office.
The investigation reportedly centres on claims that Nnaji submitted a degree certificate purportedly obtained from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), as well as National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) documents that were later found to be questionable.
The ICPC has yet to issue an official statement on the arrest or the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
