The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has convened an emergency meeting to address the worsening security situation in Edo State and across Nigeria.
According to a statement issued on Friday by Chief Victor Nosakhare on behalf of the Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, the meeting will deliberate on the growing insecurity in Edo in particular and the country at large.
The statement said the meeting will hold at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Oba’s Palace in Benin City.
It added that the meeting was convened under the authority and directive of Oba Ewuare II and should be treated with utmost urgency by all concerned.
