The Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force have renewed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration in Kogi State, following a courtesy visit aimed at enhancing security cooperation across the state.
On 16 June 2026, the Customs Area Comptroller of the Niger/Kogi Area Command, Comptroller Muhammad Sani Umar, mni, paid a visit to the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni, at the Police Headquarters in Lokoja.
The visit, described as cordial and symbolic of the strong working relationship between both agencies, underscored ongoing efforts to deepen synergy in tackling security challenges and supporting national development.
During the engagement, Comptroller Umar expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and his entourage. He said the visit was intended to further strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between the two security institutions, stressing the importance of cooperation, information sharing, and joint efforts in addressing emerging security threats.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service to sustained collaboration with the police and other security agencies operating in the state.
In his response, CP Kankarofi welcomed the Comptroller and described the visit as timely and significant. He noted that all security agencies in Kogi State operate as one family with a shared responsibility of maintaining peace, law, and order.
The police commissioner commended the officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service in the state for their professionalism and continued cooperation with the police. He also appreciated the Comptroller for the visit and offered prayers for national peace and stability.
The visit ended with both agencies pledging to further deepen collaboration, improve intelligence sharing, and enhance coordinated efforts toward ensuring a safer and more secure Kogi State.
