Founder of the Warri-based Word of Life Bible Church, Ayo Oritsejafor, has shared deeper insight into his battle with cancer, revealing the emotional, physical, and financial challenges he faced during treatment.
Oritsejafor disclosed this in a video shared online and monitored by Church Times, describing the experience as one that tested his faith, finances, and the loyalty of those around him.
The former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) revealed that he spent about $120,000 on medical treatment while battling the illness.
According to him, doctors in the United States confirmed that he had cancer but advised him to return after three months before treatment could begin, as immediate intervention was considered risky.
He said he later returned to Nigeria and attended the church’s Jubilee programme despite enduring severe pain at the time.
“Many people did not know what I was going through. I was in pain, but I was still doing my best for God. There was cancer in my body. I was laughing, I was smiling,” Oritsejafor said.
The cleric also revealed that doctors instructed him to eat six times daily as part of efforts to manage his health condition during treatment.
He noted that behind the public testimonies and eventual recovery were difficult medical procedures, huge financial commitments, and unwavering support from close associates, including one whose dedication reportedly defied hospital protocols.
Oritsejafor’s revelation has sparked reactions among followers and members of the Christian community, many of whom praised his resilience and commitment to ministry despite his health struggles.
