A prominent cleric, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has raised fresh concerns about Nigeria’s political and economic outlook, warning of a potential period of instability marked by confusion, institutional strain, and rising tensions ahead of future political activities.
Speaking during a recent address shared in a Facebook video, Ayodele cautioned that the country could experience significant unrest if proactive measures are not taken to address underlying challenges.
“I’m seeing anarchy and crisis, political confusion in Nigeria,” he said, noting that the situation could gradually escalate if existing issues remain unresolved.
The cleric also expressed concern about the financial state of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), suggesting that the national oil firm may soon come under intense scrutiny.
“NNPC will face very serious financial trouble that will make people question the GMD,” Ayodele stated, referring to the leadership of the corporation.
His remarks come at a time when Nigeria’s oil sector remains central to government revenue and economic stability. Analysts, however, note that such predictions remain speculative, while emphasizing that transparency and accountability in the sector continue to be critical public concerns.
