Operatives of the Omu-Ijebu Divisional Headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old woman, identified as Azeez Khadijat, over the alleged illegal repainting of a suspected stolen Suzuki minibus.
The arrest followed a swift response to credible intelligence received on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m., indicating that three men and a woman were spotted in a bush along Ikhasi Road, Kajola, via Omu, repainting a Suzuki minibus—popularly known as “Korope”—without a registration number.
According to the police, the vehicle was originally yellow but was being repainted in white and blue in an apparent attempt to alter its identity and evade detection.
Acting on the information, detectives moved to the scene. Upon sighting the operatives, the suspects fled in different directions, leaving behind the vehicle. However, Khadijat was apprehended inside the abandoned minibus.
The vehicle was recovered and taken into custody. It was later identified as bearing a Lagos State registration number.
A search of the scene led to the recovery of several items, including three mobile phones, a power bank, a paint can, sandpaper, and a Type-C charging cord, all believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the minibus may have been used for criminal activities in Lagos, prompting the suspects to repaint it to conceal its identity.
The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the оперативes for their prompt action and professionalism, assuring that all fleeing accomplices would be brought to justice.
