The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has pledged to ensure effective traffic management and round-the-clock emergency and rescue services across 27 major traffic corridors in the state before, during, and after the Easter celebration.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the agency’s most senior commander overseeing administration and operations, Cmrd. Elias Omonayajo. According to him, the special Easter operation commenced on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and will run through Friday, April 10, 2026.
TRACE noted that the festive period is expected to witness a surge in human and vehicular movement, which could lead to challenges such as vehicle breakdowns, road obstructions, overloading, excessive speeding, drunk driving, and increased risk of road crashes.
To address these concerns, the agency said it has deployed additional operatives and engaged its voluntary arm, TRACE Mayors, to man strategic locations and traffic choke points across the state. The agency will also collaborate with other security and safety bodies, particularly the Ogun State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (OGSEMSAS), under the state’s broader security architecture to ensure the safety of lives and property.
The statement further directed all field commanders to ensure that TRACE operatives maintain professionalism, civility, and fairness while carrying out their duties, especially during the busy holiday period.
While extending Easter greetings to Christians, the TRACE leadership urged motorists to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations. It warned that any vehicle apprehended for traffic violations during the operation would not be released until Monday, April 13, 2026, after the conclusion of the special exercise.
For emergencies and feedback, the agency advised members of the public to contact its toll-free line 112 or call 0706 942 5555, 0806 270 3568, and 0803 491 9165. It also noted that its social media platforms will provide real-time traffic updates, alerts, and advisories throughout the period.
